Tour Overview
After an early morning pickup from your accommodation, the journey begins east of Swakopmund. The first part of the tour follows the coastal route, where you stop at the Zeila Shipwreck, view the lichen plains, and see small salt mining areas. Along the coast, you also pass through small Namibian settlements and learn about daily life in this region.
The tour then turns inland and heads into the Namib Desert. You travel across wide gravel plains toward Spitzkoppe. A remote stop is made in the desert, where a freshly prepared lunch is served. The lunch includes local drinks and gives you time to rest and enjoy the quiet surroundings.
Spitzkoppe Exploration
After lunch, the drive continues toward Spitzkoppe. Along the way, you may see local people selling semi precious stones such as tourmaline, garnet, and aquamarine. These stones are mined in the area and are available for purchase.
As you approach Spitzkoppe, the granite peaks come into view from a distance. Spitzkoppe is an inselberg and is often called the Matterhorn of Namibia. You also walk up to the Rock Arch, one of the main highlights of Spitzkoppe. This natural granite arch is a key photo stop and offers wide views over the desert.
Moon Landscape Visit & Return
After exploring Spitzkoppe, the tour continues to the Moon Landscape. This area is known for gravel plains, dry river valleys, and wind shaped rock formations that are very old. The quiet and open space makes this stop special.
In the late afternoon, you return to Swakopmund and arrive around sunset, marking the end of the Spitzkoppe Adventure Drive Full Day Tour.
